Piano lessons can be boring… so can dirt biking, fishing, and dancing, if you do them regularly enough.
Boredom is the biggest obstacle piano teachers must overcome if they desire a successful and rewarding career. Beat piano lesson boredom, and you’ll be on the road to success.
As the title of this post implies, my students never get bored. Honestly! I don’t let them get bored. Every week there is a new and exciting activity to supplement the regular structure of piano lessons. This new activity could be a game, a lead sheet, or a composing activity. But I don’t stop there.
Every month our music school has a different theme. Our monthly music theme helps direct further supplementary activities to implement during regular weekly lessons. Our themes have varied from learning about music of Kenya, to learning about the origins of hip-hop and rap. And yes, we can always find a way to make these different styles of music work with the piano.
Our piano students and their parents love our unique approach to music lessons. Nobody pushes, pulls, or drags their students to piano lessons; they literally come bounding in the door.
And because our students are never bored, they never feel the need to “take a break” from piano. And because they never need to “take a break” they grow up to be lifelong musicians.
