Growing up I played hockey. In my town you could play two types of hockey; “Rep” and “House”. The “Rep” players were the cream of the crop. The “House” players just wanted to have fun.
The “just for fun” hockey players outnumbered the “competitive” hockey players 6 to 1.
Now imagine how many piano players want to take piano lessons “just for fun”.
It might just change the way we think about teaching piano to children. Maybe we can stress a little less about forgotten piano books and missed practice sessions, if we can appreciate the fact that some of our piano students want to learn piano “just for fun”.
