When a piano student quits, it’s like getting sucker punched in the gut.
Your blood, sweat, and tears… wasted.
You used a thousand different teaching strategies, trying in vain to make a connection.
You spent countless hours thumbing through method books, searching for inspiration.
You posted to forums and blogs in search of a “magic bullet”.
You bought candy!
But nothing worked…
What a waste!
Or was it?…
Would you do anything different if you had to do it again?
I doubt it.

Good One! I always spend hours trying to figure out what I did wrong and what I could have done differently. Then the phone rings — someone new interested in music!

It’s never a waste to spend time with a student, even if they don’t appreciate it at the time. I guarantee they will be glad for what we have taught them in the long run!

I had a pupil quite last year, but restarted this week, hooray! Think they had too much going on at the time. But am making sure I use a different teaching method this time, which seems to be working!

All of my students mean a lot to me, but there have been certain ones in the past who have quit where I actually cried! lol But no never wasted. Somewhere down the line, they will remember and appreciate the time and effort you spent on them.
