I am going to share with you a 2-second tweak that can take your piano studio website from zero to hero. It is one of the easiest search engine optimization tactics to perform, but it is overlooked by piano teachers way too often.
It is… your website’s TITLE tag! That’s right, that simple little phrase, the one that describes your site and appears in an internet browser’s tab, can literally take your website from lost to found.
Can You Spot a Winner?
Check out the following fictitious website title tags for piano studios located in Bellingham, Washington… which one do you think is the winner?
1. Jane’s Piano Studio
2. Preschool Piano Lessons | Mel’s Music Studio
3. The Piano Studio of Sarah Bentley
4. Piano Lessons in Bellingham | Sunridge Music School
5. Piano Lessons With Greg
If you picked number 4, then you are absolutely correct. Number 4 mimics the important terms that a potential student from Bellingham might type when searching Google for a piano teacher – piano lessons in Bellingham. And because it mimics these terms, a page with this as its title has a far better chance of showing up #1 in Google than numbers 1, 2, 3, and 5 (of course there are many other factors… but that’s for another post).
This is the simplest of tweaks, and yet far more than half of the piano studio websites I visit do not reference their location or town in their title tag! But don’t worry if your website title tag is not up to par… it’s an easy fix. Dig into your website’s code, find the <title> tag, and make this 2-second tweak.
