Have you been waiting with bated breath for our next teen piano book? Well, it’s here and it’s a motivational and educational powerhouse.
With this month’s resource you will leave your teens awestruck and keep them glued to the piano bench… even when the lazy, crazy days of summer attempt to drag them away.
Teenagers long for music that speaks their language: music that is mysterious and motivating, passionate and powerful. I Thought I Heard Lions is all of that and more!
Jam-packed with seven challenging yet approachable intermediate piano pieces, this book has the power to pull your students to their pianos with a renewed sense of energy and excitement. But, as with all of our books, its way more than just epic music…
I Thought I Heard Lions will also inspire your teens to explore phrasing inner melodies in both the treble and bass clefs—a skill that adds a whole new dimension of texture and expression to their playing.
If you click on the image below you’ll be able to preview two more of the seven pieces from Teach Piano Today’s PianoBookClub Book of the Month for June… and then if you scroll a little further down we have a couple more recordings you can listen to as well!
This book was June’s book of the month… but we offer a NEW book every month! Check out www.pianobookclub.com to see what book you can start with today!

So excited to get my second piano book! I waited WAY too long to join…thanks for such a great resource!
Andrea says
Hi Cassie! Happy to hear you’re excited about the books each month 🙂
Joy says
Hi Andrea! I just finished my studio recital on Sunday and all of my teens played your pieces. They love them! I know they will be excited about these as well. They have learned so much through your pieces and are even inspired to make it their own, by changing dynamics, speed, intro and ending. I love seeing the creativity! Thank you so much!
Andrea says
Hi Joy – what a compliment! Thank you 🙂 I’m honoured to have my music as such a big part of your recital and I’m thrilled to hear that they are enjoying them and learning from them! Thanks so much for taking the time to write – please know how much it means to me 🙂
Beth says
This music sounds like it will be so thrilling to play! Thank you!
Colleen says
I am a member of your piano book club and I get your newsletters, but I can’t figure out how to download the printed music!!! –every button I push wants me to subscribe, but I am already a subscriber!
Andrea says
Hi Colleen – you’re actually a member of PianoGameClub, not PianoBookClub. I’ve just emailed you to help further, but this is why you don’t have this music 🙂
Sherri says
My teens will be so excited! They are always asking me when you are coming out with more amazing music. Thank you for inspiring us to be better teachers!
Sherry says
Hi Andrea
Can I purchase the book without being a member?
Andrea says
Hi Sherry – the books are only available through the membership (which is why we’re able to offer the music at such a discount). We would welcome the opportunity to send you lots of great supplementary repertoire through PianoBookClub.com however! 🙂
Melene says
I love this music and I’m 49! Thank you! Can’t wait to share it with my students in the coming weeks.
Melinda says
I really have enjoyed playing through this book! I do have a little confusion in the use of the term “inner/outer” voice and I think I’m misunderstanding what it means to be “revealed”. On the first page of each piece, the first line where it says “inner voice concealed”, I thought what’s there IS the inner voice, and where it says “inner voice revealed” that’s where what I see as the outer voice (the higher note, where my mind goes, for example, in a 4 part choral, the outer voices are the soprano and bass and the inner voices are the tenor and alto) being shown in addition to the inner voice. Could you help me understand better? I got a Music Ed degree, but I couldn’t do piano with that program, and I only had piano lessons through high school, so it’s possible that I’m crossing terminology somewhere. Or in the craziness that is my life right now I’m missing something pretty obvious, but I want to make sure I’ve got my ducks in a row BEFORE I present my students with them!
Kelly Koch says
Following this question. I’ve downloaded the book but not presented to students yet. I’ve listened to the clips while reading the music but still want more clarification about outer and inner voices. Today I’m going to try playing a few of the pieces and maybe it will come to me. Gorgeous music; have a few students in mind who will totally dig this book!
