For many piano teachers, the lazy, hazy days of summer are not nearly as romantic as they sound. In fact, more often than not they represent an itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny bank account. But this does not have to be your fate!
For parents, summer days are neither lazy nor hazy… but simply CRAZY! And they are more than willing to ship the little kiddos off to a super fun week-long summer camp to give themselves a much needed break. As a piano teacher this is your opportunity to make some extra cash with those lucrative group lessons we so often dream of.
But what does a summer piano camp look like? Well, that’s what this week’s Idea Swap want to know. If you have conducted a summer piano camp or if you have a great idea for a summer piano camp, use the form below to tell us all about it!
And as always, we will collect everyone’s brilliant ideas, create a Summer Piano Camp Idea Swap page, and email the super-secret password to everyone who contributed an idea.
Looking forward to your wonderful responses!

Piano Rock Band Camp. Need access to keyboards or digital pianos that contain a wide selection of tones. Assign each student a part in a rock song. Whatever song you like. I like using something from the Beach Boys. Like an actual Rock Band, assign each player a part with the appropriate tone. They practice alone each wearing headphones, so I may assist each student for a moment, and then as a group everyday. By the end of the week, we perform the song for the parents. I provide the lei’s and sunglasses to get the summer affect. Heads up. It is a lot of prep work for the instructor. If there is time, sometimes two songs can be worked on to perform. Depends on the abilities of the students in the camp.
