Do your piano students “forget” to practice the piano? Maybe they do… but many don’t. Many are simply so busy with ballet, soccer, school, dinner, playdates, carpooling, homework… that finding time is difficult.
We could write an entire post on over-scheduled piano students (in fact we have!) but for now we need to deal with the issue at hand… making sure our piano students find time to practice!
If only you could pop up in their home with some sort of Harry Potter-like magic to gently remind them of their daily practice! Can you imagine the progress your piano students would make?
Here’s Your Piano Practice “Reminder” Solution!
We don’t have Harry Potter magic, but we do have a great printable for you. Download it here, print one copy per student, cut them out and send home the 9 squares in a ziploc bag with instructions for the parents to hide the squares randomly around their home (think bathroom drawer, vegetable keeper, shoe rack, cookie jar etc). As your piano student goes about their daily activities during the week, they will come across the hiding “Boxthovens” and are reminded to drop everything and run to the piano!
It’s a simple way of popping into your piano students’ homes for an often-needed reminder that short but regular sessions of piano practice are key to piano student progress, motivation and enjoyment.
