Have you been toying with the idea of purchasing an iPad but aren’t sure if you can truly justify doing so? Do you have an iPad but you haven’t yet used it in your piano lessons? Do you already use an iPad but are always on the hunt for more ideas? Then this podcast is for you!
The iPad in Your Piano Studio
Today we’re chatting with Australian piano teacher and blogger Tim Topham. Tim shares excellent advice on how to effectively add an iPad to your piano lessons to motivate your students, add relevancy to your lessons, and make your own piano teaching life easier and more efficient.
Listen in as Tim discusses what not to do with an iPad in your lessons, how an iPad can engage even your most skeptical teens, and how to select apps that will be instantly beneficial to your piano teaching.
You can find more great advice on iPad use (and a whole lot more!) from Tim on his blog at TimTopham.com. And, if you’re really keen on using an iPad in your lessons, you can check out a great new book created by Leia Veiss called The iPad Piano Studio.

It was SO good to hear Tim talk about how he uses his iPad. Of course I learned about new apps and already downloaded them. I’m excited to utilize Instapaper and am going to be more diligent with using NoteStar. Of course, I was absolutely thrilled to hear my blog and book included in the podcast. Thanks for offering a link on your blog. I’m a huge fun of this timely topic–the iPad HAS revolutionized piano teaching. (oops sorry if this posts twice–flakey wi-fi! 🙂

What a great podcast! I’ve been using iPad in the studio for a year now and keep finding awesome ways to integrate it into teaching. I mainly use it as an organizer using MOOSIC STUDIO. its an app that allows you to track students practice, keep your schedule, organize your library, invoice and sooo much more. well worth the $$.

I am a big fan of “NoteStar” and “i-Real-Pro”. Here is an example of how we use “i-Real-Pro” to replace a rhythm section in “Andrew Harbridge masterclass” with my piano student Liam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLfwPcPRAGI
