Even though there are plenty of things to keep my piano teaching mind occupied in December, repertoire selection for January always seems to be in the forefront.
So, today I wanted to share with you our newest book, The PopWaltz Prophecy… a resource that explores four of the most common left-hand accompaniment figures encountered by young piano students: Alberti bass, waltz pattern, polka and broken arpeggiated chords.
But this is not your typical book of classical repertoire! Instead, the sounds of the classics are blended with the pop sounds of today, melding old with new to create a stunning soundtrack to a captivating story. Have a listen…
Never before has there been such an engaging way to explore and perfect the repeated accompaniment figures your piano students need to master. And, with these skills firmly in place, your Early Intermediate students will sight read like pros, progress through classical repertoire more quickly, add variety to their chording and improv skills, and find the freedom on the piano that comes with the ability to recognize and execute these common left-hand figures.
If you click on the image below you’ll be able to preview two more of the seven pieces from The PopWaltz Prophecy… and then if you scroll a little further down we have several recordings you can listen to as well. If you like what you see and hear, you can purchase The PopWaltz Prophecy in digital format (with a studio license) in our store here.

Andrea, I have several students who are going to love this! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning when new music arrives each month. Can hardly wait!
Trevor says
Hi Jan – lovely! We’d love to hear how they enjoy the book, which pieces are their favorites etc. One of the best parts of our job is seeing our materials “in action” 🙂
Nancy says
Me, too. It’s like Christmas every month and getting to open a new present. I have students who will particularly love this month’s pieces. Thanks so much for what you do.
Trevor says
Thank you Nancy! We can’t tell you how happy this makes us to hear 🙂
Kirstie says
I can’t wait too!
LadyD says
Riveting sounds! What a wonderful teaching resource. Many beautiful pieces, just right for the early intermediate player. Thanks so much!!
Trevor says
Thank you Diana! 🙂 Hope it’s a well-loved book in your studio!
Elaine says
Absolutely beautiful!!
Jean says
I like the music. When you get your subscription are you able to download the recordings as well? And also is there an additional cost for the recordings?
Trevor says
Hi Jean – the recordings don’t come with the book. For the $8 you receive a book each month with 7-9 pieces that come with a license for unlimited printing in your studio (you can use it with as many students as you like forever). We often will release recordings from the books on the blog and they’ll always be free 🙂
Jean says
Thank you. How does one download the recordings from the blog?
Jean says
I see answer below v
Jean says
One more question, are the pieces labeled by level (so it’s easy to determine which students may use each piece)?
Andrea says
Hi Jean – yes, the books are labeled according to level (we vary the level each month so you build a varied library). If we have multi-levelled books (which we sometimes do) then there is a table of contents which lists the levelling for each piece. Most books are all one level and most of our repertoire we create falls between Early Elementary through to Intermediate/Teen repertoire.
Jean says
Wonderful! Please email me info to get this book and sign up. Thank you. A_Time_4Music@yahoo.com
Patti says
It is great the hear the tracks. Is there some way to have access to them on your Sound Cloud? I am not sure what all is involved!?!
Andrea says
Hi Patti – the sheet music is available to you if you join PianoBookClub.com (it’s delivered instantly as a digital e-book that comes with a license for unlimited printing for your studio so you can happily print and photocopy ’till the cows come home! ;). The recordings are on our sound cloud – you can listen to them online or download the mp3’s to iTunes if you like. Does this help?
Jean says
Ok here is my answer, I am going to have to step up my technical knowledge.
Christina says
Do I have to sign up on the soundcloud site to see them? I click the ‘soundcloud’ link in the tracks above (soundcloud.com/pianobookclub), but don’t see them there (I can only see a total of 24 tracks, all for TeddTales)…. ?_?
Andrea says
Hi Christina – the tracks from this book are all on this blog post – nothing else on Soundcloud to do with this book 🙂
Christina says
Oh, okay. I was just hoping that they were there so I could download them; can’t do that from the blog post….
Rochelle says
I’m so excited to get this month’s book club email. I wish I could move it up to earlier in the month! These tunes are going to be perfect for my teenage students. thank you so much for all the wonderful music you create. It makes my job as a piano teacher so much more fun. I’m as excited as my students each month to get my book and game club items. You guys are the bomb!!!
Andrea says
Hi Rochelle – you can move your delivery date earlier! Just email me 🙂 So happy to hear you’re excited about the books and putting them to great use in your studio!
Antoinette Franke says
Do you print paper copies of your books or are they all downloads in PDF? If I join your book club would I get a paper copy plus reproduceable priviledges?
Andrea says
Hi Antoinette! All of our books are delivered digitally. We do this so that the cost is low ($8, no shipping) and so that we can extend to you a printing license that allows you to make as many copies of the book as you may need for use in your studio (something that is not possible with a hard copy book). We know teachers often want to use resources with more than one student, so this solves that problem easily. You can print what you need when you need it 🙂
Susan says
I am really looking forward to receiving this music! I know that some of my students are going to really enjoy it. THANK YOU!!!
Susan says
My older students are going to love these! I wish I had signed up earlier in the month that I decided to start subscribing so I could get the music earlier in the month. It’s so hard to wait for these amazing new collections each month!
Andrea says
Hi Susan – happy to change your delivery date to earlier in the month for you! It’s easy – just email me 🙂
Marilyn Brennan says
This new book is a blast! Love it!
Andrea says
Thank you Marilyn!
Kelly Koch says
Well, between Vamp Battles and this new book, my teens are set for the spring. And NUTS about Notereading with Shelton T. Squirrel has me set for the little ones. Lesson planning done, BAM!
Question: Is this new book the same level as Vamp Battles?
Andrea says
Hi Kelly – no, this one is a level or two below Vamp Battles – no octaves in the LH, easier key signatures and simpler rhythms. I’d say it’s one level above The Rhythmic Haunting of Ruby Wrigglesworth book.
Billie H says
To be clear- do these songs have snippets or themes in them from actual current songs? by the same name? Or are the styles merely contemporary? They are lovely & I am interested in purchasing them, but I am very careful what I introduce my students to & would have to research each of the songs, where they came from & any lyrics if they contain portions of current songs.
Andrea says
Hi Billie – the pieces are all original (all PianoBookClub books are original music only)
Linda says
Enjoying your new book once again! They are so playable and enjoyable for me and so my students are bound to love them. Cute story, too! Thanks once again. As others have said, I look forward to them like a present to me each month! 🙂
Andrea says
Lovely to hear Linda 🙂
Debbie Anderson says
I am a member and love all your wonderful ideas!!!
How do I get a copy of the music from the PopWaltz Prophecy??
Andrea says
Hi Debbie! Your copy of The PopWaltz Prophecy was delivered December 18th 🙂 Do a quick search of all your folders and let me know if you don’t see it (I can help if it’s been somehow filtered by your email program).
Nikki says
I am new to this website (and teaching in general) and came across this awesome music. Decided to subscribe, got my first digital pieces, excited to use them, but I’m wondering when I’ll get pop waltz prophecy. Did I miss out on it? Is it only for December?
Andrea says
Hi Nikki – Yes, sorry! Once the piano book has been “retired” after the month it is released it is no longer available. However, if you become a member of PianoBookClub you will have the opportunity to purchase re-released books for the same $8 with unlimited printing. The PopWaltz Prophecy will definitely be a future re-release so you haven’t missed it entirely 🙂
Sadie says
Hi, I love this. Is there a way to buy the book without becoming a member? I only teach 4 students and I’m not ready to commit to the $8 a month yet. Thanks
Andrea says
Hi Sadie! The PianoBookClub books are only available to members of the club. Because of the membership we’re able to offer the music at a significant discount (typically one piece of music with a studio license for printing is anywhere from $12-20. With PianoBookClub you receive 7-9 pieces for just $8). We chose this format as we know how valuable motivating supplementary music is to student progress and retention and we wanted piano teachers to be able to build a fabulous library of repertoire without breaking the bank 🙂
Mary Loeffelbein says
Hello! I have just discovered your website and I love it! I am wondering how I can purchase the Popwaltz Prophecy music? I signed up for the Piano Book Club and received the Dudley Dormouse music but would like to have the Popwaltz music too. I didn’t see a way to purchase it…? Thanks! Mary
Andrea says
Hi Mary 🙂 Welcome to PianoBookClub! Yes, as a continuing member of the club you have the option of purchasing re-released books each month. Starting in your 2nd month you get a password for the member’s page of PianoBookClub.com. The PopWaltz Prophecy will be a future re-release you can watch for!
