The Composer Card Set that everyone has been asking for is ready to roll. If your students have had a blast collecting the Bach and Beethoven cards… then they are bound to be even more excited for a set that breaks away from the “Old Boys’ Club”.
That’s right… today’s Three Composer Card Set is jam-packed with some serious girl-power, including the likes of Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, and Amy Beach.
We’ve had wonderful feedback from piano teachers who are discovering that these cards are a great way to include a little bit of music history into their lessons.
I personally have absolutely loved listening to my students tell me all about how Mozart was born in Austria which (apparently.. LOL) is where Ostriches are from… and how Beethoven used to dip his head in cold water before composing… and how J.S. Bach had 13 children.
I just can’t wait to see what my music history sleuths discover about the three composers in today’s card set.
Here Is Today’s Composer Card Set
As a female composer myself, I felt it was important that my students not only learn about the members of the “Old Boys’ Club” like Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart but to also soak up the fascinating information on other composers who added creativity, beauty, and innovation to the music world.
Today’s trading cards include all-female composers who contributed significantly to music history, often facing obstacles that required incredible determination and persistence.
We hope that the information your students discover inspires the budding composers in your studios and encourages them to explore music that they may not yet have heard!
You can download today’s Composer Trading Card Set (along with many others) in the Growing With WunderKeys Toolkit.
Pair These Cards With The Victress Sessions!
The Victress Sessions celebrates the music of seven different female composers including Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Amy Beach, Louise Farrenc, Maria Szymanowska, and more. Find it on Amazon.
Cindy Schultz says
Thank you so much for the women composers! My students ask me every week, “When are we getting another composer card?” I’m so happy that they love learning about the composers, and am very thankful that your cards are the avenue to their learning!
Thank you again!
Andrea says
Love to hear that they’re “chomping at the bit” for music history Cindy!! 🙂

You guys are the best! Thanks so much– my students have been so excited for new ones!
Andrea says
Glad to hear it Julie! 🙂
Marybeth Miller says
Would love to see the likes of Lili and Nadia Boulanger and Hildegard von Bingen in this set too!
Andrea says
It was really hard to choose to who to release next Marybeth – as we commission an artist to draw them for us we had to narrow it down 😉 In the future perhaps!
Melinda says
Nadia Boulanger is one of the most inspirational people to me! While she didn’t do much composing of her own (I’ve read some books about her and she felt it wasn’t very good, didn’t have heart, passion etc, it didn’t mean something to HER), but because she taught so many other composers, I chose to write answer the question on my 20th Century Music History class of “who was the most influential composer of the 20th century” with her name. (we had been told there was no right answer, we just had to defend our answer). I got full credit on my answer. 🙂
Shauna says
Thank you Andrea for making piano lessons fun the kids love it!
Andrea says
Glad you can use the cards Shauna and that your kiddos are happy and loving them!
Jolene Berke says
Where can we get the Bach and Beethoven cards?
Jolene Berke says
Google to the rescue! Found them! 🙂 Do you have 5 sets total?
Andrea says
Hi Joelene – you can always use the search bar on the right of our page too to find posts you may have missed. To date we have released JS Bach, Beethoven and these 3 today.
Ruth Michaelis says
Too bad you are so FABULOUS! It must be exhausting.
Love the cards!
Andrea says
LOL 😉
Barbara says
Does anyone have music suggestions composed by these women that is accessible to late elementary students?
Melinda says
Perfect timing! I’m doing a music history mini camp next week and was hoping the composer card of the month would be ready by then-and then you make THREE new ones and girls at that!! Thank you SO much! I’m so excited to offer these as part of the take home for that camp!
Andrea says
Hi Melinda – love it when the timing is perfect 🙂 Glad you can use them for your camp!

Stephani says
So excited to have these! I am excited for more!
I am doing a movie night for my last week of lessons for the term, and we have a Bach and a Beethoven movie. It will be fun to give the card to fill out. Hopefully they’ll remember some things that way! And popcorn! Who doesn’t like that!
Morgan says
These are so great! When will more be released? My students LOVE these, and are excitedly asking for more every week!
Becky Barber says
These are SO perfect to use for my incentive theme for next year. I’m planning to let the kids earn travel tickets as we move around countries in Europe and learn about classical composers and play some of their music. I will let the kids earn the trading cards as a prize. Hoping there might be 10 at some point ( one per month or so?!) How can I thank you enough?!
Stephanie says
Thank you for doing these as well! I had two students comment this week on wanting to learn about female composers. I told them not to worry, we’ll be learning them too! 🙂
Andrea says
Glad to hear it, Stephanie! Yes, in order to motivate our young female students they need role models too! 🙂
