Once a month, Trevor and I take a quick break from our regular blog posts to share the latest games from our monthly resource PianoGameClub. If your looking to pump up the fun in your lessons, then check out our game previews at the end of this post.
Well… I have almost made it through my first month of piano lessons following a summer break. And I don’t know if it’s because I had such an active summer, or because (gasp!) a looming birthday means I’m getting older, but sitting at a piano bench for hours at a time has been particularly hard this year.
I feel like one of my little piano students, wiggling from side to side and then standing up and sitting down and then standing up again. I need to move.
Fortunately… my students do too!
The longer my students are at the piano bench the less focused they become. Their first seven minutes sitting at the bench seem to be twice as productive as the next seven minutes.
But getting up and off the bench is like pressing a “reset” button. And when we do get off the piano bench, chances are we’re going to be playing a game!

Hi Johanna – so glad to hear it! With a year’s worth of games I can only imagine that you have a bunch of “theory geniuses” at your studio now! 🙂

I have been a member of the PianoGameClub for over a year and have games organized on my computer by objective. Lesson planning is so much more efficient and effective. My students LOVE to play the games. After over 40 years of teaching piano, I changed my entire way of teaching when I found your games. My students are learning deeper and more quickly than in the past. Thanks so much.
