Whenever the opportunity to engage my piano students with a theme arises, I pounce on it. Small changes in routines, exciting surprises and holiday activities capture their imagination. Which means I end up teaching more focused, motivated children (and that’s always a good thing!).

Also,”terrifying technique” is a big hit around here. I have taken it one step further: I read the story and allow them to create their own background music. If we have time, we invite mom in to entertain her with a performance too at the end of the lesson.

Hello! Love your composing activities; my students have a blast with them too. I’m just curious about what program you use to make these activities? I’d like to try my hand at making some composing sheets of my own for my students to use, and a computer program would make it a lot easier.
We use Sibelius 🙂
