When it comes to skill acquisition, beginning piano students need a lot of repetition. Creating opportunities for your young students to reinforce a concept over… and over… and over… is an important way to solidify their musical foundations.
But asking a young child to do something over and over without varying the way you structure your approach is not only boring, but ineffective.
Instead, tap into your student’s kinaesthetic, aural and visual learning abilities by presenting a single concept in a number of different ways. Repetition becomes exciting when you offer variety. So, get up off the bench, use manipulatives, play games and move!
Today we’re sharing an off-the-bench printable you can use when introducing note reading (Treble C,D,E) to your young beginners. Add it to your library of worksheets and have some fun reinforcing note reading with your piano students.
Dice and Daisies; A Spring-Themed Note Reading Printable
Today’s printable has a cheerful spring theme (We must be craving those first signs of spring!) and is a fast, easy-to-use activity for reinforcing reading C, D, and E on the treble staff.
C, D and E are often the first three “on-the-staff” notes your piano students encounter. Solidifying their abilities to differentiate between these three is vital. With an understanding of C, D, and E firmly in place, you can feel confident in moving on to more notes without causing confusion or frustration.
With today’s printable, your young piano students will have a blast as they race to roll a die, draw notes on a series of staves and complete a pathway from butterflies to flowers. Note reading, fine motor skills and repetition… it’s all here!
The instructions for accessing today’s printable are below.
