If you’ve spent time on our blog, you’ll notice that Trevor and I absolutely love holidays and other special events! When there’s a chance to break up normal piano lesson routines, we grab it! You may also have noticed that Trevor and I absolutely love creating piano teaching printables! When there’s a chance to make the lives of piano teachers easier and piano lessons more effective… we pounce on it!
This combination of holiday excitement and printable-creating mania means you’re in for a good time on the TeachPianoToday blog! Get set for holiday-season awesomeness as we prepare to share a ton of resource with you between now and December.
And while Halloween is not technically a holiday, don’t tell that to your piano studio kiddos! They are, no doubt, gearing up for one of the more exciting days of the year. And to help you harness this excitement, we’re kicking off some sharing with a printable piano game pack!
Trick Or Treat Your Way To Theory Fun
Game-based learning is our favorite way to solidify important theory concepts. When teaching young children it’s inevitable that you’ll be dealing with distracted brains. Verbally explaining something to a young child works… sometimes… but game-based learning wins every time.
Today’s piano game (see download instructions below) comes in two versions; one designed for young beginners who may be working in WunderKeys Piano for Preschoolers and one designed for slightly older children who may be working with our new WunderKeys Primer Piano Book One book (or any other Primer book).
This game is fast-paced, easy to set up, fun to play and guaranteed to get your kiddos moving, learning and shrieking with glee. You might even get the giggles too 😉
Game play instructions are found in the downloadable pack along with the game boards and card sets. One version focuses on keyboard awareness where students identify groups of two and three black keys and one version focuses on identifying rhythmic values (quarter, half and whole notes).
Where To Find Today’s “Trick Or Treat” Fun?
We’ve added a holiday section to our printables on Teach Piano Today’s WunderKeys website! This is where you’ll be able to find all of the goodies we’ll share in the coming months.
Click on the image above, or here to be taken to our printable resource page (and yes… everything you see there is free!). While you’re there, take a peek at our new Primer Piano Book One. If you’re growing tired using the same old method books, this primer is breath of fresh air that will leave you wondering Where has this been all my life!?
