For many years, I have been composing music that will motivate teen piano students to continue with lessons. But repertoire is only one aspect of a piano lesson… and if we want to keep teens inspired, we need to focus on delivering well-rounded piano lessons that involve more than just music.
This is why Trevor and I have made it our goal to release more games, printables and activities for teen piano students. Last week we shared Beethoven In Bits; a game designed to improve understanding of motives, motives in repetition and motives in sequence.
Today we’re sharing another game… Searching For Chopin’s Keys. In this game you will go head to head with your student as you race to complete Chopin’s missing key signatures.
Make Key Signatures Fun With This Teen Piano Game
The game we’re sharing today works well as a standalone activity and works even better when paired with our piano book, The Chopin Sessions: Classical Pop Piano Solos.
The Chopin Sessions, now available on Amazon, is a pop-infused tribute to the music of Chopin. Whether you use the repertoire to ignite a passion for piano or as a jumping-off point for exploring the classics, The Chopin Sessions will inspire the next generation of piano students.
Searching For Chopin’s Keys is a fun way to reinforce understanding of key signatures with your teen piano students. Whether they show it or not, just like young children, the focus of teens fades as the time they spend on the bench increases. By getting them off the bench for a quick game, you can increase your teens’ musical knowledge while resetting their brains for focused learning when they return to the bench.
To play Searching For Chopin’s Keys, click on the image below to download and print the game file and then follow the included instructions.
Looking For More Teen Music?
The Chopin Sessions is part of our teen music collection. You can listen to one sample track from The Chopin Sessions below. If it sounds like music your teens will love, check it out on Amazon. And while you’re there be sure to look for The Amadeus Anthems and The Beethoven Sessions too!

I just ordered this piano book. My teens love the pop crossover stuff and so do I. I would love to see another series like the Celtic Warriors. My teens ATE that series up.
