If your piano studio was sinking and you could only save one book, it would be August’s release from PianoBookClub. This month’s book does it all… which makes it the perfect back-to-school resource.
Duets For Me and My Not-So-Musical Mates, Volume 3 can be used with absolutely any student that shows up at your studio door. Whether it is a teen looking to rock out to some powerful piano solos, an adult who has never touched a piano, or an 8 year old newbie who wants to play some cool music right now, this book does it all!
Read on to learn more about the unique music that is about to become your studio’s best friend. And don’t forget to listen to the audio previews below!
The Multi-Tool You Need As Students Return To Lessons
In it’s simplest form, Duets For Me and My Not-So-Musical Mates is a resource composed of teen piano solos that are accompanied by simple, repeating accompaniments that can be played by anybody… even if they have never sat down at a piano bench.
When we created Volume 1 our intention was to develop a resource that piano playing teens could use to have a good musical time with their not-so-musical mates. And it worked wonders.
But then teachers started to use this series for so much more. They began teaching new students the simple accompaniments and turned first piano lessons into rockin’ duet experiences. They began hosting Grandparent’s Days and Bring-A-Buddy Days, using the duets to create fun musical experiences for their students and their special guests. And they began using the music to show new adult piano students that it is never too late to begin making great sounding music.
The seven piano pieces in this book are each preceded by “Buddy Pages”. New students can play these Buddy Pages while you play the piano solos or your teen piano students can use these Buddy Pages to teach their “not-so-musical mates” the simple, repeating accompaniments.
Listen to three of the seven piano solos and then check out the visual preview of the music and the Buddy Pages below:

I wish there were a way to just buy your books when I am able rather signing up for another subscription service.
Andrea says
Hi Melissa – several of our books are now in hardcopy on Amazon so you can obtain them that way if you prefer a single-purchase option (The Beethoven Sessions, Amadeus Anthems, Chopin Sessions and Half Step Henry are all on there) The PopWaltz Prophecy is a single (digital) purchase in our store as well. The membership is how we are able to offer studio-licensed books at such a significant discount to industry standard (typically $8+ per piece whereas with PianoBookClub you get 7 pieces for $8) 🙂
Danielle says
I want to second Melissa’s request…my studio’s incredibly bare-bones and a subscription doesn’t make financial sense for it. However, I’d love to use more of your products and would buy digital copies of your books in a heartbeat.
As someone who also sells digital products (ebooks, novels), it seems like it could be a win-win, given that there’s no inventory to stock. I hope you would please consider it.
Andrea says
Hi Danielle! You can purchase some of our books in hardcopy now on Amazon and we have The PopWaltz prophecy in our store as a digital download – links to everything we have is in our store (link at top menu bar). We know that a membership doesn’t work for every teacher – but it is worth mentioning that comparable digital copies of piano books with a studio license are upwards of $80 or more – equal to at least 10 months of a PianoBookClub membership. Even if you were to use just half of the books during that time it would still be a better deal 🙂

I would also love it if we could have access to purchase your old releases from the PianoBookClub. Even if they were only made available in a “members only” section of the website. I would happily continue my subscription and also order copies of several previously released books for download as well. Which would be a win for everyone… you would still be maintaining your monthly subscribers, and all of your subscribers would be getting access to all your wonderful Piano Books.
Andrea says
Hi Rebecca – you’ll be happy to know that we already do this 🙂 We re-release one past book every month to members only as an optional “add on”. Check the bottom of your book delivery email for the password starting in your 2nd month of membership. This month (November) is slightly different as our re-release is in hardcopy as it’s two past books in one (so 14 pieces).

Hello from Scotland! I’m loving all your free printable and currently looking into books available on Amazon. These duets also sound fantastic! Apologies if this question has already been answered, but if I were to sign up to the monthly subscription – would I have access to Volumes 1 & 2? Even if I were to pay for a digital download on top of subscription? Would love to use easier ones with beginners as well. Thanks so much for all your wonderful resources!
Arlene

Hi Arlene! The digital books from PianoBookClub.com are separate from what’s on Amazon. Once the books are on Amazon they are only available in hardcopy from then on 🙂

HI Andrea, from your comment above: We re-release one past book every month to members only as an optional “add on”. Is this still the case? THat is like getting 2 books a month? I have not noticed the PW. Will look sharp for it next time. Or I could be misunderstanding this.
Another question while I have your ear: I saw in an old posting something about becoming a registered Wunderkeys teacher. It that still “a thing?”
Andrea says
Hi Barbara! No our re-releases are always digital now. They’re optional to purchase for an additional $8. No password needed – just check the bottom of your email for info when your book is delivered 🙂 I think I answered your registered WK teacher question in the Facebook group 🙂

Hi Andrea,
I find myself referring to these 3 volumes of Duets SO MUCH in the last few years! In fact, I’m putting together a presentation for the Florida State Music Teachers Association Conference this October, and I’ll be talking about them then – in terms of a way to foster collaboration when teaching exclusively online.
Any chance you would consider releasing these as hard-copy books?
Anna
