In today’s post we’re sharing the first of many printable teen piano solos that belong to our newest project: The Practice Sessions: Classical Pop Exercise Pieces For Teens.
From now on, when you see the headline, ‘The Practice Sessions’ in an email, you’ll know that we’re sending you some rockin’ teen piano solos! The Practice Sessions project is inspired by our classical teen piano books that many teachers refer to as the “Sessions Books” (The Beethoven Sessions, The Chopin Sessions, and The Amadeus Anthems).
While you don’t need to own any of the “Sessions Books” to use these standalone Practice Session Piano Pieces, we will be releasing these printables to correspond with music from the “Sessions Books”. When used together, you’ll be able to deliver cohesive, themed, teen piano lessons where the warm-up exercises and repertoire work together to make an awesome musical experience for your teens! Excited?! Keep reading for the good stuff…
A Teen Piano Solo To Reinforce The G Major Scale
More often than not, teen piano students want to skip over their technical exercises and get to the music. After all, technical exercises rarely appeal to their musical tastes. But skipping over things like scale practice will hamper their musical development, slow their progress and, ultimately, leave them frustrated.
This invariably leads to a lose-lose situation where teens get sloppy if they skip their exercises yet annoyed when they practice their exercises. So, we decided to turn this situation into a win-win! With our new Practice Sessions resources, teens will become skillful players because they WANT to practice their technical exercises not because they HAVE to practice their technical exercises.
Today we’re sharing a Practice Session that focuses on the Key of G Major. You can coordinate this printable with The Sonatina Session from The Beethoven Sessions book (see audio below) or simply use it anytime your teens learn a piece in the Key of G Major. With this printable your students will learn the G Major, two-octave scale and then have the chance to practice LH chord progressions and RH scale patterns in the easy-to-learn pop piece we’ve also included in this pack.

Natalie Hardy says
Ho do I find more of these in different keys?
Andrea says
Hi Natalie – this is the first one we’ve released but there will be more! If you join our teen facebook group you won’t miss any http://www.facebook.com/groups/teenpianomusic 🙂
Jennifer Groover says
This is amazing – I’m getting so fired up to do lessons with my tweens/teens with all this new material! Thanks, Andrea and Trevor!
Andrea says
Yay! We love it when teachers are fired up! 🙂
Jennifer Short says
Just ordered all three books. I love the creative arrangements!!
Andrea says
Hi Jennifer! Thank you 🙂 We can’t wait to hear how your teens like the new music!
Sarah Connolly says
Thank you for the practice scales. Am I understanding correctly that I can’t buy all the scales excercises now, but that they will be released one by one? I’m really excited to try it and love the sounds of the Amadeus Anthems!
Andrea says
Hi Sarah! Yes, we’ll be releasing these for free on the blog to coordinate with the keys you’ll find in these “Sessions Books” 🙂 Glad you’re excited about it!
Joan says
Looking forward to more of these in other keys – just what I’ve been looking for to reinforce the circle of 5ths and playing in different keys. Many thanks!
Andrea says
Hi Joan – great! Glad you’ve find them useful 🙂 Yes, more to come!
LINDA KIRKCONNELL says
Oh my goodness is this ever fabulous! Love it. My students will too! Thanks a lot! This emphasis on teen music has really inspired my teen students; they’re loving the games, new pieces, and the artwork on these.
Andrea says
Hi Linda – thrilled that they’re enjoying the resources and music 🙂
Anna says
Thank you again. Exactly the issue I’ve been trying to figure out this past week. Whew! Yay! Hope this’ll do the trick. 🙂
Andrea says
Awesome! Hope it inspires some great scale practice 😉
Karen Bloch says
I bought all three. If these inspire like I think they will, well..that’s a BIG problem solved. Very creative! Thank you!
Andrea says
Hi Karen! We can’t wait to hear how you like them – we’ve had so much fabulous feedback from teachers who are finding teens really connect with them 🙂 Hoping yours do too!
Janelle says
This is perfect and so useful!! Thank you!
Andrea says
Hi Janelle! Great 🙂 So glad you’ll use them 🙂
Susan says
Thank you for this resource! I’m always looking for ways to make scale practice more appealing.
Katherine says
Thank you! This looks good. Can’t wait for the harder keys! (Most of my teens have already mastered the easier scales. It’s those nasty flat keys that they really need to drill!)
Roxy Roth says
Do you have any digital download options of the Beethoven or Amadeus Sessions?
Andrea says
Hi Roxy! No, the books are only available in hardcopy once they are published by Amazon. We did price them in a way that it is very similar to the cost of printing them out in color yourself yet without the expense of purchasing a studio license (often upwards of $50 or more). Hope that helps!
Robyn says
Thank you. Looking forward to trying these out with my students.
Nicole Burkholder says
Did you ever create more of these? I was looking for a link to other key signatures but don’t see anything with a cursory search on your website. Thanks!
Andrea says
Hi Nicole – we created entire books of these 🙂 You can find out more here: https://www.teachpianotoday.com/2019/11/11/at-what-level-do-students-start-the-wunderkeys-intermediate-piano-program/
