The first piano activity book in our brand new note reading series is ready for your students.
In our latest project, we’ve set out to make sure that you and your kids always have the perfect note reading games and activities for ANY time of year.
And, since it’s Back-To-School season… this is where our newest book launches off.
This book, which can be used for note reading homework or for in-lesson activities, is your solution to note reading struggles.
If you want a more detailed look at everything that is inside, we’re sharing sample pages in today’s post.

Tell Me What’s Inside
If you teach primer piano students (or anyone still playing in C position) then you know an entire lesson can’t be spent sitting at a piano bench.
Kids need to switch it up at least once during a 30 minute lesson… and usually more!
But taking a break from the bench can be time consuming as you fumble with papers in search of the note reading activity that you want to use.
Image then, if your students had a book of themed note reading activities in their bags. How useful would it be if starting a new note reading activity was as simple as turning a page in their activity books?
That’s what we are providing with today’s piano resource.
In The Back To School Book Of Note Reading Boosters you will find the following activities that reinforce note reading in C position:
Easy Format Board Games (4 activities)
Interspersed throughout the book you will find enjoyable note reading board games that require nothing more than the game page, some coins, and a die. In no time at all you and your students can go head-to-head in a note reading challenge.
Color-It Mystery Pictures (3 activities)
Kids love coloring. Piano teachers love it even more when that coloring reinforces note reading in C position. As your students follow along with the note reading crayon guide, they will be giddy as a picture emerges.
Note Printing Pattern Pages (3 activities)
We have always believed that note printing is a piano student’s secret weapon to note reading success. In these pattern-based activities, note printing will lock in that musical knowledge forever.
Note Reading Mazes (3 activities)
While your students may lose their way as they attempt to complete our mazes, they’ll be right on track with their note reading!
Note Reading Word Searches (3 activities)
By replacing many letters in our word searches with corresponding music notes, your students will have to use their note reading skills to find our back-to-school words! Talk about taking word searches to the next level!
Dice Play Timed Tests (4 activities)
With our release of Andrea and Trevor Dow’s Timed Note Reading Tests For Piano, we pioneered a homework-based approach to note reading. In our newest resource, we’ve taken it one step further by throwing a die into the mix and turning timed tests into a game-based race.
Note Reading Tic Tac Toe (2 activities)
Everyone loves Tic Tac Toe… even when you just use Xs and Os. But this game becomes much more fun AND useful when those Xs and Os become music notes!
Dot-To-Dot Note Paths (3 activities)
In this choose-your-own adventure paper and pencil activity students must find their own path from Point A to Point B and then record their journey by naming the music notes they pass along the way.
Musical Extras (3 activities)
For students who just can’t take a break from the bench 🙂 we’ve added a few musical extras that can be played at the piano. These musical extras include a build-your-own note printing solo, a mix-and-match sight reading solo, and a play-it-my-way composing solo.
