“Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.”
That moment of sudden wonder unfolds in The Sweet Sorrow Solos: Romeo and Juliet in F Major and D Minor for Piano, our new classical-pop piano book releasing next Tuesday.
This early-intermediate collection for teens includes seven expressive piano pieces written especially for teen students, where music does the storytelling.
Lyrical melodies, dramatic contrasts, and moments of quiet vulnerability guide students through the passion, urgency, and heartbreak of Romeo and Juliet—all while strengthening musicality, control, and expressive playing in a way teens actually enjoy.
In today’s post, we’re sharing audio previews from The Sweet Sorrow Solos so you can hear how these seven early-intermediate piano pieces bring Shakespeare’s most famous love story to life, one emotional moment at a time.

Let’s Listen To The Sweet Sorrow Solos
When it is released this coming Tuesday, The Sweet Sorrow Solos will become our seventh teen intermediate resource in Andrea and Trevor Dow’s Very Useful Teen Piano Library.
Composed in the keys of F major and D minor (two-octave scales), it is a story told through powerful piano pieces and their breathtaking melodies.
Your intermediate teen players will be captivated as they play through the soundtrack of this familiar tale, experienced in a brand new way!
And, as with all teen books in our V. U. Library (check them out at the bottom of the post), supplementary activities like warm-ups, ledger line note reading timed tests, sight reading, and rhythm activities are included alongside the captivating piano pieces.
Listen to the music below the cover image (and then keep reading to learn about our previous releases in this series).
