When you listen to Celtic piano music, you can’t help but clap along.
Enter any live music venue in Dublin and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a foot that isn’t stomping.
Because it naturally inspires people to clap, tap, and stomp along, we love to combine Celtic music with rhythm exercises.
In today’s post, we are sharing an intermediate level 1 Celtic piano solo that can be accompanied by our Lap-Tap-Clap Rhythm Exercise to reinforce playing in 6/8 time.

When it comes to teen repertoire, we create a bridge that connects today’s students with classical pieces from the past.
This classical pop approach is at the heart of our most popular teen books. These include titles like The Amadeus Anthems, The Beethoven Sessions, and, of course, the WunderKeys Intermediate Pop Performance books.
You can click on an audio sample below to hear our approach in action.
If you enjoyed the piano pieces above, then your teen piano students will fall in love with our WunderKeys Intermediate Pop Performance books.

Today’s Celtic Piano Solo For Teens
Linvara Lane and its Celtic Lap Tap Clap Accompaniment create a groundbreaking 6/8 rhythm learning experience for your students.
If ever there was a time signature that deserves all of your attention and more, it is the 6/8 time signature.
While it can be a challenge for students at first, once comfort is gained, your students will be able to play music with a distinctive, upbeat sound that provides a nice break from classical tunes.
The main hurdle presented by 6/8 time is the extra emphasis that occurs within a measure of music. Prior to learning to play in 6/8 time, piano students spend their early playing career cementing the idea that the emphasis falls on the first beat of a measure.
Naturally then, it takes some practice to place emphasis on the first and fourth beat in a single measure of music.
And that practice is what today’s activity and piano piece provide.
