With the return of lessons getting closer as the lazy days of summer pass, your list of reminders is probably growing.
Maybe it is time to start scheduling. Maybe it is time to stock up on piano books. Maybe it is time to start printing all of those Teach Piano Today activities.
While I don’t know when you will start your Back To School planning, I do know that your To-Do List is currently growing larger and larger as lessons get closer and closer.
To help you stay organized this August, today we are sharing a Back To School To-Do List printable.
Rather than sticky notes scattered all over your house, our printable will gather all of your tasks in one handy location.

Are These Tasks On Your To-Do List
The Back To School To-Do List that we’re sharing at the bottom of today’s post has 23 spaces gathered into four main categories. Beside each of the 23 spaces is a box where you can have the satisfaction of placing a checkmark when a task is completed.
1. Communication
Piano teachers know that you don’t just open your studio door and start teaching when lessons return. For many, the startup process begins with scheduling and registration emails that are sent weeks in advance.
In this section of our To-Do List you will want to include things like:
- Inform piano parents of lesson times/dates
- Send out the yearly studio calendar
- Send accounting information for lesson fees/material fees
- Send your Studio Policy Information Sheet
2. Print List
Your very first task should be ordering ink for your printer. Piano lessons come with a ton of printables and Andrea and I have all you need right here in the Homework Pages section of the Teach Piano Today website or right here in the printables section.
In this section of our To-Do List you will want to include things like:
- Print lesson assignment sheets
- Find fun piano games for the first week of lessons
- Print “Welcome Back” postcards to send to students
- Print “Welcome Back” studio photo props
3. Studio Prep
Many teachers like to close their studio doors in June and keep them locked until August or September. However, your teaching life will probably be a tad easier if you pop into that piano room a few days in advance.
In this section of our To-Do List, you will want to include things like
- Assemble piano games for the first week of lessons
- Purchase and organize any new teaching tools
- Change up some studio decor by adding new posters
- Spruce up the waiting area – add welcome posters
4. To Purchase
When lessons return, your piano students are going to need books and your studio is going to need supplies. In this section, you can record all of the materials you need to purchase.

Hi, Andrea
I am interested in sending “welcome back” postcards, but did a search and cannot find them. Can you send me a link, please?
Also, can you please e-mail me the password to the homework pages? I don’t see it in the last e-mail I received. Thank you!
Denise
Hi Andrea I really appreciate your emails but it’s too hard to find the passwords lately. Is there a way to have them easier to find? I am unable to access the information thank you so much
Hi Leslie! This printable doesn’t actually require a password – at the bottom of the post, you’ll see where it says “Click the image below to download”. That’s all you have to do – no password required. The password for our homework page library was in bold in the last email you received. The password is always the same – it hasn’t ever changed. Pop me an email if you need a reminder of what it is – or check out the email from yesterday morning 🙂
