Andrea and I are thrilled to announce that WunderKeys Pop Staff Piano Library For Older Beginners, Book Two is coming out next week!
Book Two is, quite literally, jam-packed with music! At 85 pages long, it is a brilliant behemoth that is going to thrill your teen and adult beginners.
But don’t just take out word for it…
Today we are sharing audio previews from this upcoming release and answering a few questions that may be on your mind.

Let’s Explore Our Older Beginner, Book Two
WunderKeys Pop Staff Piano Library For Older Beginners, Book Two continues the awesome journey on the Pop Staff that began in Book One while also transitioning to more Pop Staff-Grand Staff hybrid piano pieces as well as full grand staff piano pieces.
And, of course, it employs our popular all-in-one approach with technical exercises, note reading activities, sight reading practice, and improvisation exercises that accompany the repertoire.

Which Primary Topics Are Covered In Book Two?
WunderKeys Pop Staff Piano Library For Older Beginners, Book Two is divided into three main sections.
Section 1 introduces hands together coordination with held notes, matching notes, and non-matching notes on the grand staff. These grand staff skills are then combined with the Pop Staff to create hybrid piano pieces.
Section 2 introduces eighth notes. This is a carefully considered diversion from traditional method books that delay the introduction of eighth notes. We introduce eighth notes early for two reasons: 1. Older beginners are very capable of handling eighth notes earlier than young children, and 2. Eighth notes provide much-need rhythmic variety that will keep older beginners motivated.
Section 3 introduces note reading in treble C position and mid-piece hand movements.
Which Secondary Topics Are Covered In Book Two
In addition to the three main sections listed above, Book Two also introduces new dynamic markings, half rests and whole rests, tied notes, ritardando, harmonic intervals, crescendos and diminuendos, fermatas, and the A minor pop chord.
Does It Still Contain Classical Pop Piano Pieces?
If you are a fan of WunderKeys and TeachPianoToday, then you know that classical pop piano pieces are our jam! In Book Two, we are riffing on classical piano pieces like Minuet In G Major by Petzold, Morning Mood by Grieg, and The Magic Flute by Mozart, to name a few.
Should Students Complete Book 1 First?
If you teach older beginners who are using a different method book and are confident note readers in the C five-finger scale, then they can jump right into Book 2.
Of course, it is important that they realize our Pop Staff approach to older beginner music is much different and much cooler than the music they have been playing. Like Book One, Book Two begins with a quick start guide that will get older beginners who are transitioning to this book playing on the Pop Staff in no time at all.
Let’s Listen To Music From Book Two!
Below we are sharing audio samples from Book Two. After you have a listen, remember to look for our release announcement next week!
Interested In Getting Started With Book One?
If you want to grow your piano studio, there are a million older beginners waiting to learn piano. In fact, finding older beginners is a piece of cake.
But keeping older beginners has not always been so simple.
If you have ever lost an older beginner (and we all have) it is not you! In fact, you can place the blame entirely on the lack of motivating music.
Older beginner piano books are, historically, the worst.
Crack one open and you’ll see something that more closely resembles a dishwasher installation manual than a music book.
And that is the last thing a beginning teen or adult wants.
Older beginners sign up for music lessons as an escape from their busy and stressful lives. The last thing they need is a piano book that gives them heart palpitations.

I already know that I would like to try your Pop Staff Piano Book 2.
Can I pre-order it now?
Thank you.
Hello! It’s available for purchase now on Amazon 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/WunderKeys-Staff-Piano-Library-Beginners/dp/1777941989
Can I also listen to music audio previews of the songs in Pop Staff Piano Book One?
Thank you.
We can do better than that! You can print the first 25 pages from Book 1 to try out and use yourself here 🙂 https://www.teachpianotoday.com/2022/01/31/print-our-older-beginner-trial-pack-for-your-students/
You often mention “ the C five-finger scale” in your marketing materials. Can you tell me exactly what that means? In my case, I always teach my students the full eight-finger scales, so this is a little “off-putting” to me.
Thank you.
Hello! Five-Finger Scales is the same as a pentscale which is what most method books begin with for early note reading. It’s the set of 5 notes (Bass CDEFG, Middle CDEFG) that students learn first 🙂
Hi Andrea! Beautiful music. Will these ever be sold as a digital licence?
Thank you.
