Some summer resources feel like homework.
Surf Sprint feels like a race toward the waves.
This send-home summer piano game is made for the cabin, the camper, or wherever your students happen to land with a little free time.
Students flip a card, name the bass staff note, and move one of three beachy characters up the sand. Card by card, square by square, the surf gets closer.
But here’s the fun part: one character belongs to the student, one belongs to the parent, and one belongs to nobody. So every flipped card comes with a tiny “please be mine!” moment.
Will the student’s character reach the waves first? Will the parent sneak in a surprise win? Or will the unclaimed character get there first and turn the whole race into a tie?
That little bit of suspense keeps the note reading moving, the markers moving, and the summer piano review feeling much more like a board game than a job.

The Surf Sprint setup is simple. Students need the game board, the playing cards, three markers, and a pencil. After choosing which character belongs to the student and which belongs to the parent, students flip cards one at a time, name the notes, and move the matching markers toward the waves.
Because all three characters move during the game, students get repeated note-reading practice without feeling like they are drilling flashcards. The race does the motivating. The cards do the reviewing. And the waves do the rest.
It is a quick, playful printable to send home before your studio closes for summer, or to tuck into a summer lesson folder for students who need a little bass note boost before September.

Want More Send-Home Summer Games?
Surf Sprint is a perfect little taste of what board games can do for summer piano learning.
When students head into summer break, the right game can keep note reading, rhythm, intervals, articulation, keyboard awareness, and listening skills alive without feeling like a worksheet in disguise.
That’s why the Very Useful Piano Board Games are such a helpful studio tool. They work beautifully during lessons, but many can also be sent home to play with a parent, sibling, grandparent, or friend.
So, as summer approaches, this is a great time to stock your studio with games you can use now, send home later, and pull out again all year long.
