We all know that having a piano studio website is important. Now more than ever people are turning to the internet to find what they are looking for. Without a website, they often won’t find you easily!
Even if you rely on word-of-mouth you can bet a large percentage of those who heard about you then went online to do a bit more research. A fabulous website can mean the difference between encouraging them to sign-up immediately or having them click away with plans to contact you later… and then you’re forgotten.
Aside from the basic information about your studio there is one major component that every piano teacher should have on their website.
Check out what my students are saying!
Testimonials are one of the most precious marketing tools and should be front and center on your piano studio website. You can say all you want about yourself and your studio, but people are more easily convinced if the words come from someone else. Check out our tips for terrific testimonials below!
1) Ask specific questions. When asking your current clientele for a testimonial, avoid simply asking for a couple of sentences. Ask them a very specific question that pertains to the overall philosophy of your studio. For example “How has my studio’s focus on composing motivated your child?” or “How have my wildly fun practice activities affected home practice time?”. Ask each person a different question and you’ll end up with a host of very pertinent testimonials with a lot of value.
2) Only ask those who you know will submit something you can use: Avoid asking clients whom you suspect may send something lack-lustre (through no fault of your own). It’s offensive to ask for a review and then not use it, so be choosy in your ask.
3) Ask your students! With parental permission, obtain some testimonials from your students, not only their parents. Kids come up with some really wonderful ways of describing things. If you can somehow incorporate their own printing on your website or even a video of their testimonial the impact will be that much more.
4) Keep them short and sweet. People stop reading after a few sentences. Choose the parts of the testimonials you receive that pack the most punch, and use just these parts for the most impact.
Most piano studio families are more than happy to sing the praises of their fabulous piano teacher. Use this to your advantage and let the world know, in other people’s words, just how amazing you really are! Your piano studio website’s value will skyrocket (and so will your ego!)
