On Saturday night, Prince played the Save on Foods Memorial Centre here in Victoria, British Columbia. I am not a huge Prince fan, but good friends of mine happen to be Prince-aholics… and of course were in attendance. As a matter of fact, they also managed to snag tickets to an after-party held at a downtown nightclub.
So, on Sunday morning I was not surprised to hear that my friends had had the time of their lives; Prince rocked the arena until late into the night. What did surprise me however, was that following the concert, Prince played for another 4 hours at the after party; hammering out hits at the night club until 4:00 in the morning.
And while I am not a fan of his music, I absolutely admire his passion and dedication! We’re talking about an artist who has been recording hit after hit for 37 years, and yet is still inspired to rock out until the early hours to please his fans.
It should always be our goal as piano teachers to bring Prince’s passion to our students’ lessons day in and day out… to give our students everything they deserve and more… to make sure every piano lesson is the best piano lesson. No matter how difficult our day (or our student) may be, the show must go on… so why not make it one heck of a show!
