So, if you’re a regular reader of the Teach Piano Today blog, you know that I am a pretty organized gal… okay… at least I give off the impression that I am a pretty “organized gal”. And yet, one Wednesday back in April, I found myself scrambling to plan for lessons that afternoon.
Why? Let me explain…
Earlier this year, I discovered that my Apple TV has an entire tab dedicated to movie trailers. And, as it turns out, movie trailers are my guilty pleasure. So, on a Tuesday evening when I should have been planning out piano lessons, I was completely captivated by the “movie trailer channel”.
But it wasn’t just the exciting plot lines that had Trevor and I spellbound… it was the music. And although the power and “epic-ness” of the music meant for a harried Wednesday afternoon, it also meant I had stumbled upon the perfect piano book for teens and tweens.
The result is June’s Piano Book of the Month, The Silver Screen Playbook. I’ll explain more about this exciting book later, but right now, check out the video below to hear some samples of what is about to be your teens and tweens favourite music! (Remember to turn up the volume.)
The Silver Screen Playbook – Epic Music Starring Octaves
June’s Piano Book of the Month, The Silver Screen Playbook, debuts 7 original “movie trailer themes” packed full of emotion, passion and thrilling drama. If you thought your teens were inspired by The Guardians of Arranmore book, just wait until they experience the full, exciting, and cinematic sounds of music that showcases the many different ways octaves can be used to add fullness and drama to piano repertoire.
“Just sight read your latest PBC book and WOW… I think this was your best one yet! I loved playing through all the pieces and I know my students are going to love them too. Beautifully composed … Well done!”
Each piece is accompanied by original movie poster artwork that features “not-yet-released” blockbusters from the minds of Andrea and Trevor Dow 🙂
