Last January we relaunched our WunderKeys Preschool Piano Books. Since then, thousands of teachers and students have been laughing, learning, and falling in love with our never-before-seen approach to piano method books!
After the launch of these books, Trevor and I were inundated with emails begging us to follow up our preschool program with primer piano method books.
And, because we hate to disappoint… and because we love to create new approaches to learning piano… we dove right into a primer piano book series!
And so we released our WunderKeys Primer Method Book series (a 3-book seires). We are so proud of the completed product, and believe our primer piano books will refresh and reenergize piano lessons for students AND teachers.

5 Things To Know About WunderKeys Primer Piano Book One
Whether you already use Teach Piano Today’s WunderKeys Piano Books or are hearing about them for the first time, we thought we’d share the five most important things all piano teachers should know about WunderKeys Primer Piano Book One.
1. Created For Students Who Have, And Have Not, Completed WunderKeys Piano For Preschoolers
Our first primer piano book builds off the creative, story-based, approach we pioneered in our preschool books… but this doesn’t mean your new-to-WunderKeys kids can’t jump right in! We also wrote this book to work as a standalone primer piano book for beginning piano students who are new to piano lessons.
2. An All-In-One, Easy-To-Teach Approach
We write our method books with a lesson-in-a-box approach. WunderKeys Primer Piano Book One is way more than a book of piano pieces; it is jam-packed with story-based instruction, off-the-bench activities, game-based learning, ear-training exercises, theory fun, teacher duets, AND age-appropriate piano pieces.
3. On The Staff In A Flash
Reading notes on the staff can be intimidating, but with our scaffolded approach and use of the Wunder Staff in the early lessons, your students transition to reading music will be both exciting and easy.
4. Home Practice Perfection
WunderKeys Primer Piano Book One is written from the perspective of a teacher talking to her students and is intended to be read aloud. This story-based approach means that even parents with limited musical knowledge can read and review lessons at home, easily guiding their children through their practice..
5. An Incredible WunderKeys Support System
WunderKeys is becoming way more than a method book. Our primer piano book launch coincides with the relaunch of our WunderKeys website. On the site we share a boatload of free resources that you can print off and use with your piano students.
But the support doesn’t end there! The WunderKeys Facebook Group is a powerhouse of kind and creative piano teaching fun. The teachers there are happy, (hilarious!) and passionate about helping other teachers who are using the WunderKeys method books.

This is amazing!! 😀 We (the students and I ) are going to have so much fun!
Since which age do you recommend students can start with this book? Because I’m about to get as well the preschool book, so I work with each student with the appropiate book depending on their age.
Thanks!

Hi Maria! The WunderKeys Preschool books are for students ages 3-5. The Primer books would be for beginning students ages 5+ (up to about age 9) or those continuing on from WunderKeys Preschool Book 3 🙂
