e Our two daughters have a Grandpa who is an inventor. He’s always tinkering away in his garage with his welder. His projects vary… but they are always of great interest to our two daughters.
Halloween is his “sweet spot”. He builds the most amazing contraptions to delight trick or treaters. Our daughters spend most of September and October wondering, “What will Grandpa build this year?”. Last year it was a giant pumpkin. This year… well, he’s been busy for weeks in his shop, and judging from the sparks flying out the door, it’s going to be something truly epic.
Grandpa is hard to compete with when it comes to October excitement… but in our own musical way, we’re doing our best to keep up with his creativity and invention. Today, we’re sharing two Halloween printables that you can print and use with your students for some off-the-bench fun!
Two October Piano Theory Printables
If you’ve never used piano games before, October is a great time to give it a try. The two printables we’re sharing take about 5-6 minutes to play, and are a great way to reinforce concepts that beginning piano students encounter over and over again. The magic of game-based learning means that your kiddos will be truly invested in the piano lesson process… resulting in motivated, focussed students who will retain concepts more easily.
You can use these two printables (see download instructions below) with your young beginners as a way to break up lesson routines and to inject some excitement into your lesson offerings. Today we’re sharing:
- Step and Skip To The Mansion – An ear training game that has students listening for steps vs. skips as they make their way up the pathway to a haunted house.
- Scarecrow Note Reading – This activity is a great way to reinforce the first few notes students learn in Middle C position (helping to eliminate the confusion between B’s and D’s). Can the scarecrow beat the birds to the corn?
