3/4 time does not get the love it deserves. While it is the second most popular time signature in early piano music, it is a distant, distant, second.
But when February hits, everything changes. The 3/4 time signature takes center stage in many popular love songs; think Open Arms by Journey, If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys and I’ll Be by Edwin McCain.
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’re jumping on the 3/4 bandwagon. In today’s post we’re sharing a sight-reading piano solo in 3/4 time for your level 1 students.

Let’s Fall In Love With Sight Reading!
We have shared many sight-reading activities in the past. We believe they represent the best way to reinforce note reading and intervallic reading in a motivating and enjoyable way. As with all of our past activities, we like to have specific skill focuses.
In today’s Valentine’s Day piano solo, your level 1 students will reinforce playing staccato and legato, 3/4 time, and intervals of a second and third.
While the piece works great as a standalone solo it works wonders when paired with WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 1A and WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 1B; both found on Amazon.
