Teaching piano can come with many headaches. Most of these headaches can be eliminated by having a wonderful rapport with your piano parents.
Reaching out to piano parents regularly with happy little update emails can go a long way in building relationships and trust.
And once you have parents on your side, the sky is the limit for the success of your studio.
Today we are sharing a Christmas letter that you should send to piano parents this holiday season to update them on their children’s progress and to thank them for continuing to support music in what has been a very challenging year.
It is a simple gesture that will go a long way in making sure 2021 is a wonderful year for your students and your studio.
What To Say to Parents This Holiday Season
Over the last few years, Andrea and I have shared many email templates that can be used for communicating with parents. You can find many of them in this blog post.
Today, we’re adding to the collection with the holiday email below. Feel free to copy our message, edit it with relevant details, and send it to your piano parents.
Hi Sarah,
I hope you and your family are doing well and are looking forward to a relaxing holiday break.
As 2020 comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation for you and Halle, and your commitment to piano lessons this year.
Halle has been making tremendous progress, in what has been a year filled with challenges. Switching back and forth between in-person and online lessons was a new experience for everyone. I am so grateful for your family’s willingness to adapt to this new approach, and for your family’s flexibility as we all learned to interact in new ways.
While I love having Halle come to my studio in person, I’ve been delighted by the exciting, online skills she has added to her “Musician’s Toolkit”. She’s discovered how to learn in a virtual environment, she’s experienced collaboration with other musicians online, and she’s even learned how to share her music in online recitals. These are not small things, and I really believe that these new abilities will open up opportunities for her in the future.
2020 was a difficult year for many piano studios, but because of your support, I was able to keep doing what I love: teaching piano to kids. For that I am extremely grateful.
Halle is a gifted musician and a delight to teach… even through a computer screen 🙂
If she can excel in 2020, I can’t wait to see how far she’ll go in 2021 and beyond!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas,
Andrea
