Teaching piano can come with some headaches. However, most of these headaches can be eliminated by having a wonderful rapport with your piano parents.
Reaching out to piano parents regularly with happy little update emails can go a long way in building relationships and trust.
And once you have parents on your side, the sky is the limit for the success of your studio.
Today we are sharing a Christmas letter that you should send to piano parents this holiday season to update them on their children’s progress and to thank them for their support of your piano studio this fall.
It is a simple gesture that will go a long way in making sure 2022 is a wonderful year for your students and your studio.
What To Say to Parents This Holiday Season
Over the last few years, Andrea and I have shared many email templates that can be used for communicating with parents. You can find many of them in this blog post.
Today, we’re adding to the collection with the holiday email below. Feel free to copy our message, edit it with relevant details, and send it to your piano parents.
Dear Mark and Amanda,
I wanted to take a moment before the holidays begin to thank you for continuing Sadie’s musical journey again this year. I really look forward to her lesson every week and have enjoyed watching her grow as a musician.
Sadie has really blossomed this fall. She has shown lots of excitement for our new music, she has improved her note-reading confidence in leaps and bounds, and she always seems to beat me in the piano games we play 😉 Sadie is an absolute pleasure to teach and I hope you have enjoyed having her music in your home.
I wouldn’t be doing my “piano teacher job” if I didn’t mention that I would be thrilled to see Sadie continue to practice over the holiday break. While I know it is a busy time, encouraging her to perform for visiting friends and family or to even just spend a few minutes in the mornings revisiting previously completed repertoire will ensure that we can start lessons in January with fresh material, without the need for review.
I’d also like to thank you both for your support of my studio this year. Families who value music, encourage their children, and put in the work at home to support piano education are truly a gift and I’m very grateful.
I have many fun things planned for the studio in 2022 including a couple of piano parties, a Play-a-thon for a local charity, a video recording project where the composer will send performance certificates to the students, and an enjoyable spring recital. I can’t wait to share them all with Sadie.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas,
Andrea

Perfect timing! Our lessons end this week for the holiday. I’ve been doing virtual lessons for 9 mos. and I’ve been feeling so grateful for students “sticking with it.” I have told the students this at there lessons, but now I will use my version of your very nice letter to send to parents. Thank you so much.
