Student assessment is the most neglected area of piano education.
Trevor and I are just as guilty as the rest when it comes to prioritizing assessments. We share a million activity-based printables and only a handful of assessment and reporting printables.
But we’re going to start picking up some of the slack.
Today we’re sharing Piano Solo Progress Reports that can be used with teens, and younger students if you wish.
These progress reports are intended to be slotted into your teaching binder and used to track student progress and guide your teaching.
If you see between 20 and 40 kids a week, remembering how well they played last week is hard enough, let alone remembering how well they played a month ago.
But with our Piano Solo Progress Reports, you will have an accurate picture of where your students are at, and where they have been.

Use Our Progress Reports With These Teen Solos
When it comes to teen repertoire, we focus on creating a bridge that connects today’s piano students with the most popular classical pieces from the past.
This classical pop crossover approach is at the heart of our most popular teen books, including titles like The Amadeus Anthems, The Beethoven Sessions, and, of course, the WunderKeys Intermediate Pop Performance books.
You can click on an audio sample below to hear our approach in action.
If you enjoyed the piano pieces above, then your teen piano students will fall in love with our WunderKeys Intermediate Pop Performance books.

Today’s Piano Solo Progress Reports
Today’s piano solo progress reports can be used to track a student’s work on a specific piece over a four-week period.
The report has four areas of assessment including note reading accuracy, rhythm reading accuracy, technique, and musicianship.
Each week you will rate the different assessment areas listed above on a four-point scale: 1. Needs Improvement, 2. Making Progress, 3. Standard Performance, and 4. Exceptional Skill.
In addition, there is an area for comments if you want to provide more specific feedback.

Great idea, thank you! You’re right, assessment often gets de-prioritized among all the other things, especially with my 30-minute students. This is a quick win!
