Despite causing the most grey hairs, teens aren’t enthusiastic about Mother’s Day. Sure, they all appreciate their moms, but they’ll show that appreciation on their own time. 🙂
Preschool and primer-aged students, on the other hand, are the heroes of Mother’s Day.
They can’t wait for the arrival of Sunday morning and the presentation of an unrecognizable, finger-painted masterpiece.
And, while moms will “love” anything created by their little darlings, this year they’ll be genuinely delighted with a personal performance of our pre-reading Mother’s Day piano solo.

A Pre-Reading Mother’s Day Piano Solo
Using groups of two and three black keys, this year’s pre-reading Mother’s Day piano solo is composed on the Wunder Staff using Wunder Dot Notation.
Wunder Dots are finger number symbols placed on the Wunder Staff. They are a huge pedagogical advancement over the approach found in old-fashioned method books that let finger numbers just “float in space”.
The structured placement of Wunder Dots on the Wunder Staff allows students to read directional movement from their first piano lesson.
Accompanying the music are loveable Mother’s Day lyrics. Because today’s piece is intended to be played by very young students, the lyrics are simple and repetitive.

Have You Heard Of Glissando and the Slimy Songbook?
Today’s piano solo is designed to correlate with a very exciting pre-reading piano book!
Glissando and the Slimy Songbook is an innovative resource that uses Wunder Dot Notation on the Wunder Staff.
If you have used Chillin’ on the Black Keys, V. U. Level B, or Nuts For Alpha Notes, V. U. Level C, then you are already familiar with the Wunder Staff.
The Wunder Staff is a pre-reading music staff that facilitates a student’s visual recognition of directional movement when reading Wunder Dots (in Level A), finger number notes (in Level B), and alpha notes (in Level C).
Together with the Wunder Staff, the Wunder Dot Notation found in Glissando and the Slimy Songbook will provide the strongest foundation for future learning that you will ever find in a pre-reading piano resource.
