Let’s Listen To The Scarlet Solos
The Scarlet Solos is the third teen intermediate resource in Andrea and Trevor Dow’s Very Useful Piano Library.
Composed in the keys of F major and D minor (two-octave scales), it is a story told through powerful piano pieces and their breathtaking melodies.
Your intermediate teen players will be captivated as they play through the soundtrack of this familiar tale, experienced in a brand new way!
And, as with all V. U. Library books, supplementary activities like warm-ups, ledger line note timed tests, sight reading, and rhythm activities are included alongside the seven captivating piano pieces.

The Cinderella Solos And The Skyward Solos
We launched this series with the release of The Cinderella Solos (available here). Composed using two-octave scales in C major and A minor, this classical-pop retelling of Cinderella was an instant hit. Check out the comments:
“My teen students are LOVING this book and can’t wait for the next installment. The pieces are lovely and are building confidence as they play through the keys of C Major and A minor – they don’t even realize they’re learning as they’re so engrossed in creating a moving soundtrack.”
“My students love this spellbinding collection of solos and so do I. Fun to play and just the right amount of challenge for students beginning the intermediate level. I now have students stating that their goal is to get to the Cinderella book level. This inspiring music is so motivating and what a gift that is!”
We followed up The Cinderella Solos with The Skyward Solos (available here). Composed using two-octave scales in G major and E minor this book lived up to the hype. Check out the comments:
“Andrea Dow has done it again! Beautiful and challenging pieces – especially appealing to teens. Not only is this great music but there are many teachable opportunities throughout the book.”
“These songs spur the imagination as they follow a storyline, and offer the student time to gain ownership of certain patterns in certain keys. Best? They’re FUN! I look forward to more of these in more keys.”
