If ever there was a classical piano piece begging to become a Halloween pop fusion, it is Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor.
Even people who have never touched a piano will recognize the opening lines of this haunting music.
And that makes it the perfect tune from which to build a spooky classical pop piano solo!
Composed for elementary level 2 piano students, Fire & Fugue: A Halloween Solo inspired by Bach will be a wonderful October treat for your kids.

Fire & Fugue: A Halloween Solo Inspired By Bach
Andrea and I began experimenting with classical pop fusions when we released The Amadeus Anthems more than five years ago.
That book was so well received that, not only did it create a “Sessions” series, but it inspired much of what we compose today.
Teachers have fallen in love with our classical pop piano solos because they have the pop sounds teen students love and the classical melodies teachers wish they would recognize!
And that is why we used this format to compose today’s Halloween piano piece.
Composed in D minor and based on Bach’s Toccata And Fugue In D Minor, Fire & Fugue can be used as a jumping-off point for exploring Bach’s music, but there’s more…
To add a technical purpose to today’s piano piece, we have composed it with an upbeat or pick-up bar.
This useful rhythmic skill gives students a sense of syncopation that will come in handy when true syncopation is explored in later levels.
