My kids are getting older. I always get a little sad and a tad nostalgic, as they move from one stage of childhood into the next.
When they were babies I wished for them to stay that way forever. When they were four, I was certain that there was no better than age than that.
And now, as they approach their tweens and teens, they are as lovely as ever. If asked, I simply could not choose a “favorite age”.
That’s not the case with piano students though. I have always had a blast working with teen piano students.
If only we could keep all of our students interested in piano long enough that they stick with lessons into their teen years.
But, as you probably know, a ton of kids quit lessons long before they hit their teens.
They’ll tell you that school is getting too busy or that sports are taking up too much time, but I don’t believe that.
I believe that their music gets too boring.
Our 9, 10, and 11-year-old kids are tired of playing “little kid” music. They want those pop-sounding teen pieces, but there isn’t a method book out there that is giving it to them.
That is to say… there wasn’t.
Last year we released WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A. It is the bridge that moves students from little kid musicians to teen piano players.
In today’s post, we have some exciting audio previews from WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A.
WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A – Available Now
Trevor and I are so excited about the release of WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A. Our level 2 series represents the final piece of the WunderKeys puzzle, allowing kids to progress from preschool piano students to intermediate players, all within the WunderKeys program!
Level 2 piano students are entering the most important stage of their musical development. They are transitioning from the simple melodies of early method books to the more complex sounds of intermediate music.
WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A is the bridge that makes this transition seamless. It is the bridge that will keep your piano students in lessons at a time in their development when so many of their peers will quit.
Jam-packed with pop-infused piano studies, technical exercises, sight-reading, lap tap clap rhythm work, teacher-student duets, classical pop cross overs, and improvisation, this book provides kids in this stage of their musical journey with exactly what they want: super cool, “peer-approved” music that is developmentally appropriate and perfectly paced. We’ve taken everything you love about WunderKeys and packaged it into one immensely loveable method book.
WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A explores the G Major and G Minor 5-Finger Scales, the D Major and D Minor 5-Finger Scales, and the A Major and A Minor 5-Finger Scales as well as eighth rests, dotted eighth note rhythms, pick-up bars, and left-hand patterns. Your students will also get to explore technique in this book including pedaling, phrasing, and hand balance.
You can keep reading to listen to some music or you can click here or on the cover below to buy the book now.
WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 2A Audio Samples
You will not find a level 2 method book anywhere in the world that can “out rock” WunderKeys. We compose music that keeps kids passionate about playing the piano while staying true to our own passion for pedagogy.
In short, our level 2 method books create rockstars with the technical prowess of classically-trained pianists.

Looking forward to this as well! Just curious as to what would come next? A transition to one of the pop books? Or a 2B?
Andrea says
Hi Caroline! Yes, there will be a 2B (our planned release for that is January) and then that transitions into our Pop Studies Book 1 which functions also our 3A.
