Technical exercises and warm-ups at the beginning of every piano lesson and homework session will result in better piano players who play with confidence, fluency, and accuracy.
But, there is one major frustration I have always had with every technical exercise book…
They don’t follow a logical learning sequence!
How is a brand new primer student supposed to warm-up when their exercises are full of eighth notes or sharps or harmonic intervals, or even just notes they haven’t yet encountered in their method book?
The answer? They can’t.
It was a desire to solve this problem that inspired us to create Andrea And Trevor Dow’s Technical Exercises For Note Reading Success, Book 1.
Book 1, composed for primer piano students, has been developed to grow with your kids.
We don’t throw the kitchen sink at new learners who are full of excitement and ready to make some music.
We want to motivate kids, not reduce them to tears.
So, we have carefully crafted exercises that grow with your piano students as they acquire new notes, skills, and abilities.
By the end of this book, you will have developed primer piano students who can play and read notes in middle C position and C position without ever having experienced the frustrations that fall on so many new piano players.
So, now that you know why you need it, we’re going to take a sneak peek inside!
Let’s Have A Look Inside!

Bobbie-Jo says
Is this book appropriate for Level 1A students as well? My daughter just started her Elementary Level 1A book and I wasn’t sure if we should order this technical exercises book when it’s released or if you will be releasing others in the near future that we should hold out for.
Andrea says
Hi Bobbie-Jo! This is for primer-level students so you’d probably want to wait for our Level 1 book – unless she needs a review of note-reading – in which case it’s really helpful for that 🙂
Lori G Kimble says
When will this go on sale and will it be available as a download or hardcopy? Thank you.
Andrea says
Hi Lori! It’s now available but it will only be in hardcopy as it’s over 100 pages – and therefore it’s more expensive to print or photocopy than it is to purchase 🙂 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KSK87W9
