The hardest part of our job is announcing the release of a new piano book!
We set a release date and then, without fail, teachers find it early. In fact, the book we’re sharing today was found on Saturday within two hours of going live on Amazon.
Trevor and I weren’t even aware it had officially been released (we were still sleeping!)…
So, today, we’re announcing the worst-kept secret in the piano world 🙂
WunderKeys Pop Staff Piano Library For Older Beginners, Book Three is available right now on Amazon.
If you want to learn more about the third book in this popular series, you can check out the visual preview we are sharing here in today’s post.
Of course, some of you won’t need to see the visual preview because it is already sitting on your piano 🙂

1. Pop Staff Music
WunderKeys Pop Staff Piano Library For Older Beginners, Book Three continues the awesome journey on the Pop Staff that began in Book One and Book Two while also transitioning to more Pop Staff-Grand Staff hybrid piano pieces as well as full grand staff piano pieces.
In Book Three, students will explore the G major 5-finger scales, the G minor 5-finger scales, the D major 5-finger scales, and the D minor 5-finger scales.
Further concepts covered include accidentals, dotted quarter notes, I and V7 chords, solid and broken chords, first and second endings, pick-up measures, 8va markings, 15ma markings, eighth rests, and accents.
2. Technical Exercises and Sight Reading
Older beginners can’t just jump into piano solos. Instead, they need opportunities to reinforce the new skills they are learning to build confidence and avoid frustration. In WunderKeys Pop Staff Piano Library For Older Beginners, we provide technical exercises and sight reading whenever new skills or notes are introduced.
3. Improv Piano Solos
In Book Three, students are introduced to several new 5-finger positions. We employ innovative improv piano solos that build confidence, awareness, and muscle memory in these new positions. Improv piano solos are also used to reinforce new rhythmic concepts.
4. Note Reading Exercises
Just like children, older beginners can struggle with note reading too. To build better note readers, in this book we have included timed note reading tests and timed note printing tests.
5. Rhythm Work
In Book Three, we introduce students to new rhythmic concepts including dotted quarter notes, pick-up measures, and eighth rests. We have included Lap Tap Clap Rhythm Exercises as a fun way for older beginners to reinforce these skills.
6. Classical Moments
While this is a Pop Staff book that relies primarily on pop chords, to develop well-rounded pianists, we have included an exploration of classical chords too.
