For adults, Valentine’s Day has been ranked as the least favorite holiday. The only reason it has staying power is that it falls in February.
And let’s be honest… February will take anything it can get 🙂
But kids seem to really like Valentine’s Day. Maybe they’re sick of February too!
Either way, Valentine’s Day represents an opportunity for piano teachers to do something different. It is a chance to break up the monotony that can develop if piano lessons are the same week after week.
In today’s post, we are sharing Valentine’s Day Print And Play Note Reading Flashcards to help you celebrate February 14th.

Do you recognize the character on our Valentine’s Day Flashcards?
If you are a fan of Andrea and Trevor Dow’s Very Useful Piano Library you will remember that loveable shark from our book, Ludwig van Bites-often Needs A Friend.
Composed in the C 5-finger scale, this piano songbook follows the laugh-out-loud adventures of Ludwig van Bites-often; a shark who attempts to shed his fearsome image and find some friends.
Inside you will discover 8 shark-themed piano pieces with lyrics (including a duet), note reading games, warm-up exercises, sight-reading activities, a rhythm activity, a practice tracker, and a certificate of achievement.

To become better note readers, young piano students must engage with notes in many ways. Primer students should be drawing notes, naming notes, coloring notes, and matching notes.
With our Valentine’s Day Print And Play Note Reading Flashcards, your students have to use their note printing and note naming skills.
How do they work?
Today’s flashcards have note names on the front and blank note staves on the back. To begin, your students must print a note image on the back of each card that matches the corresponding note name on the front.
When finished, your students will have their very own set of note reading flashcards that can be taken home for continued practice.
