When you’re trying to work from home and keep your kids educated, printable worksheets are a parent’s best friends. Personally, I set aside 20 minutes every night to pump out music, math, and writing worksheets that keep my kids learning for a good part of the day.
And while printable worksheets are great for filling the time, I have discovered that cut-and-play board games provide valuable extra minutes of entertainment. After all, not only do my kids need to complete the board game activity, but they also have to cut it out and set it up!
Because I suspect that your piano parents are also looking for anything that can provide them with a few moments of peace and quiet, today we are sharing a cut and play piano game for level 1 students!
The game, found below in today’s post, can be emailed to your studio families or printed out and placed in piano packages for your kiddos.

An Easter Intervals Piano Board Game
Today’s Cut and Play Board Game is designed for students working in a level 1 method book (such as WunderKeys Elementary Piano Level 1A). It reinforces note reading and recognition of intervals on the staff.
Three different sets of cards have been included with the game so that it may be used for students at different stages in their method books.
Playing The Game
To play the game your students will cut out a card set, shuffle the cards and place them into a deck.
Next, they will select a card and place it face up on Square 1 on the game board. After that they will select a second card and place it face up on Square 2 on the game board.
After the cards have been placed on the game board your students will name the interval created by the notes on the cards and then color in a square on the game board that is above the named interval.
Finally, your students will keep playing until all of the squares above one interval are colored.
Downloading The Game
Today’s game can be downloaded from Teach Piano Today’s Homework Pages (click the pink button below). When you access our homework pages you’ll find 40 more activities that you can download, print, or email.

I can’t seem to download your free printables. It always directs me to sign up for the newsletter, which I have done 3 times, at least. I already get the newsletter, and would love to download the free printables. Please help!
Hi Margaret! Just use the password you receive in the emails we send out each week. It’s in bold at the bottom. I’ll email you right now to help.
I can’t find the password in this newsletter (and I can’t remember it from the other newsletters – sorry!
Hi Beverly – it will be in the email that we’re sending out tomorrow morning – and you’ll have access to all of the sheets with this password 🙂
This is such a creative way to engage Level 1 students in learning piano! I love how the game format makes practice feel less daunting. Can’t wait to try this with my students and see how they respond!
