My kids are not playing piano nearly as much I would like them to right now… But I guess that’s just summer.

When my kids go through a musical downtime, I “trick” them into hitting the keys, not by encouraging them to play music, but by encouraging them to play WITH music.
Sometimes it is family duets, other times it is Lap Tap Clap Rhythm Training.
Often, however, it is improv.
I like piano improv because you can reinforce left-hand patterns and playing in different key signatures, without the strict structure of formal music.

What book would you recommend a teen beginner? I have a teen beginner who doesn’t have a method book yet, now I am just giving him Leila Fletcher’s first book to learn note reading.
