Many piano teachers find it hard to fit piano games into their lesson schedules. After all, thirty minutes can pass fast!
But without piano games, your younger kids will get antsy and bored. While thirty minutes can pass by in the blink of an eye when you’re an adult, it can feel like an eternity for a primer piano student.
Remember, young children need to change activities every ten minutes if you hope to maintain their attention.
So, how is a teacher supposed to find a balance between method book work and piano games?
The key is to use familiar game formats. Many of the piano games we share teach different concepts but are built off of a common method of play.
This way, when it’s time to play a piano game, you do not have to go over the instructions. Instead, you can hand a child the game board and let them play while you complete last-minute lesson notes or homework assignments.
