Too often, kids return to lessons with unfinished printables and unopened binders.
And then our hands are tied. We cannot let practice slide but also cannot be constant disciplinarians (if we care about the long-term survival of our studios).
So, we put on a happy face and continue with our perky approach to piano practice.
This is an exhausting but necessary part of the job.
It’s also necessary, however, to seek out students who always complete their piano practice.
In my experience, adult beginners are the answer. An adult does not want the embarrassment of letting down another adult.
So, when you send home practice tasks, like the G 5-finger flashcards we’re sharing in today’s post, you can bet your beginning adult piano players will return next week with improved skills.
And that will give you the strength to stay positive when your primer students return without their books 🙂

Need More Students? Where To Find Older Beginners
If you are looking to grow your studio in 2023, seeking out older beginners is a wonderful idea. In fact, older beginners can be the easiest students to find.
Rather than papering the neighborhood with posters or designing a fancy social media campaign, you can simply send an email out to your current piano families.
It is likely that the bulk of your studio consists of children. All of those kids have parents. And a portion of those parents will sign up for piano lessons if given the chance.
Teaching the parents of students is a wonderful idea.
An often overlooked benefit is the increased piano practice that occurs when more than one member of a family is enrolled in your studio.
You can be certain that when your adult beginners sit down for nightly practice that their children will hit the piano soon after!
In addition, when multiple family members take piano lessons, home practice becomes more enjoyable as they have counterparts with whom they can play games and practice flashcards…
Speaking of flashcards… at the bottom of today’s post, we are sharing G 5-finger flashcards for your older beginners.
