In today’s post we’re sharing the first of many printable teen piano solos that belong to our newest project: The Practice Sessions: Classical Pop Exercise Pieces For Teens.
From now on, when you see the headline, ‘The Practice Sessions’ in an email, you’ll know that we’re sending you some rockin’ teen piano solos! The Practice Sessions project is inspired by our classical teen piano books that many teachers refer to as the “Sessions Books” (The Beethoven Sessions, The Chopin Sessions, and The Amadeus Anthems).
While you don’t need to own any of the “Sessions Books” to use these standalone Practice Session Piano Pieces, we will be releasing these printables to correspond with music from the “Sessions Books”. When used together, you’ll be able to deliver cohesive, themed, teen piano lessons where the warm-up exercises and repertoire work together to make an awesome musical experience for your teens! Excited?! Keep reading for the good stuff…
A Teen Piano Solo To Reinforce The G Major Scale
More often than not, teen piano students want to skip over their technical exercises and get to the music. After all, technical exercises rarely appeal to their musical tastes. But skipping over things like scale practice will hamper their musical development, slow their progress and, ultimately, leave them frustrated.
This invariably leads to a lose-lose situation where teens get sloppy if they skip their exercises yet annoyed when they practice their exercises. So, we decided to turn this situation into a win-win! With our new Practice Sessions resources, teens will become skillful players because they WANT to practice their technical exercises not because they HAVE to practice their technical exercises.
Today we’re sharing a Practice Session that focuses on the Key of G Major. You can coordinate this printable with The Sonatina Session from The Beethoven Sessions book (see audio below) or simply use it anytime your teens learn a piece in the Key of G Major. With this printable your students will learn the G Major, two-octave scale and then have the chance to practice LH chord progressions and RH scale patterns in the easy-to-learn pop piece we’ve also included in this pack.
